Rang for the joint parish Sunday service today which was taken by the Bishop of Aston, the Rt Revd Anne Hollinghurst. Nice to be able ring all six for a special service such as this.
The bells were rung for the united parish service today. The event was recorded externally on video for the website bells sounds. We scored a pleasant and well struck quarter peal this morning to celebrate the Queens 90th birthday. Congratulations to Roy who rang the third bell inside to the plain bob doubles method rung. The whole quarter was well struck and no major errors making it a nice bit of ringing to listen to as well.
On Saturday 11th June 2016 a quarter peal of 1260 Plain Bob Doubles was rung in 42 minutes 1 Hazel Herschell 2 Helen Howell 3 Roy Followell (first inside) 4 David Herschell 5 Quentin D. Howell (c) 6 Richard Dale Rung to join the nations celebration of the 90th birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Lent is always a quiet period as some towers actually used to stop ringing altogether. Often these days this is only the case if their practice night happens to fall on a Lenten meeting but bellringers observe the no ringing rule in Holy Week. Still not found out why but from Psalm Sunday to Easter Day there should not be any ringing at all.
We have are looking forward to the summer months and the lighter nights which are already making the arrival to practice nights more welcoming. As ever we always are on the look out for new recruits so if you fancy a go come and see us. We made the effort to ring at Lea Marston this morning but sadly met with only two ringers. So a joyful noise was made with just the front two bells.
Congratulations to Julie on scoring her first peal at the first attempt. A very well rung peal was completed this morning with very few small errors being made. Several local non ringing people have commented how nice the bells sounded and a couple of ringers have also complimented the peal for its striking too. See peal details for more information.
It was nice to welcome Roy back to Sunday morning ringing after his hip operation and for once with Jane and others we managed to just about ring all six managing a good few courses of Grandsire Doubles
Did you hear the bells? We managed to ring all six. They sounded very different to their usual selves as they were half muffled. It is one of the few times a year you will regularly hear the bells in this way.
